What is a Website ?

A website is a collection of many web pages, and web pages are digital files written in HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). In order for your website to be available to everyone in the world, it needs to be stored or hosted on a computer with 24/7 internet access. These computers are called web servers.

Web pages are connected by links and hypertext and share a common interface and design. The website may contain additional documents and files such as photos, videos or other digital assets.

By conquering the internet of every domain, we see websites for different reasons and purposes. Therefore, it can be said that a website can also be considered as a digital environment, capable of providing information and solutions and strengthening the interaction between people, places and things to support the organizational goals created for it.

Website Components: We know that a website is a collection of web pages hosted on a web server. These are the parts of creating a website.

Web Host: A host is where the website is physically located. A set of web pages (linked web pages) that are allowed to access the website only if the web page is hosted on a web server. A web server is a collection of files that are sent to a user’s computer by specifying a web address.

Title: The website address is also known as the website URL. When a user wants to access a website, he or she has to enter the website address or URL into the web browser and the requested website is served by the web server.

Homepage: The homepage is the common and important part of a website. This is the first web page that appears when you visit the site. The homepage of a website is very important as it defines the look and feel of the website and directs visitors to the rest of the pages on the website.

Design: The final look and feel of the website resulting from its correct use and the integrated elements such as navigation menus, images, layout, navigation menus, etc.

Content: All web pages together form the content of the page. Makes good content on websites more effective and engaging.

Navigation Structure: The navigation structure of a website is the order of the pages, a combination of what they refer to. It is usually made up of at least one navigation menu.

How do I access websites?

When we type a specific URL in the browser’s search bar, the browser requests the page from the web server and the web server returns the requested web page and its content to the browser. Now it differs from how the information requested from the server is returned about static and dynamic sites.

Website Types:

1) Static Website  2) Dynamic Website .

Static website: With static websites, web pages are returned from the server and source code files are already created using simple languages such as HTML, CSS or JavaScript. No server-based (user-dependent) content processing takes place on static websites. Web pages are returned from the server with no changes, so static web pages are fast. There is no interaction with the database. It also costs less because the host doesn’t have to support server-side processing in different languages.

Dynamic websites: With dynamic websites, web pages are returned from the server which are processed at runtime, which means that the web pages are not pre-built but are created at runtime at the user’s request using server-side programming languages. Like PHP and Node .js, ASP.NET and many others supported by the server. So it’s slower than static websites, but updating and interacting with databases is possible. Dynamic websites are used on static websites where updates are very easy compared to static websites (which need to be changed on every page), but on dynamic websites it is possible to change them once. There is a generality that is reflected on all websites.
